Symptoms and first aid for snake bites

Snake bites or snake bites are common in the villages of Bangladesh. Most people have unreasonable fears about snakes. This is an unexpected accident. The bitten person is not prepared for such a situation at all. Severe reactions can occur if the snake is venomous. Many people die as a result of snake bites.

How many species of venomous snakes are seen in Bangladesh?

1. Cobra
2. Keute (Crete)
3. Chandrabora (Russell's Viper)
4. Sea Snake (Sea Snake)
5. Raj Gokhra (King Cobra)

Symptom of snake bite :

* There may be no pain in the bite site. However, swelling or rotting of the wound may cause pain.
* The patient may feel drowsy and feel weak.
* Paralysis or paralysis may occur. Paralysis of the eye muscles and eyeball muscles causes the patient's eyelids to become heavy. Eyes closed, eyes blurred.
* Difficulty in speaking, difficulty in swallowing due to numbness of jaw and palate, difficulty in walking, numbness of limbs and even numbness of muscles.
* The body may turn blue due to breathing problems.

First aid for snake bites:

* The affected person needs to be reassured. Most of the victims think that death is inevitable. Therefore, if the patient is given courage in an emergency and sent to the appropriate place / hospital for treatment with first aid, the patient will regain faith and courage.
* The bite site should not be cut at all. Wounds should be wiped with a damp cloth or disinfectant lotion.
* From the stinging place, apply only one knot on the inside with a towel or cloth (on the thigh if the foot is stung, above the elbow if the hand is stung) in such a way that there is nothing too tight or loose (a finger can go inside with a little effort).
* Snake bites cannot be moved too much. Because when the muscles contract, the poison spreads quickly in the body.
* The patient should be rushed to the hospital. The affected person should not be allowed to walk during the transfer. The patient should be carried to the hospital on the shoulder, cot or cradle.
* If possible, snakes should be taken along to determine whether they are poisonous or not. Care must be taken in transporting the snake, whether the snake is dead or pretending to die.
* If there are no emergency symptoms, the bite site should be examined for signs of poisoning. Poisoned tooth stains can be seen as a sign of two piercings about half an inch apart or simply as scratch marks. If there are clear signs of two poisonous teeth, the snake is most likely poisonous, but if there are no signs of poisonous teeth, it cannot be said that the snake is not poisonous.
* Skin color, darkening, swelling, blistering, putrefaction, etc. may occur at the bite site. Again there may be no change. Local changes may also occur as a result of initial treatment.

Never should do :

There are many harmful first aid treatments in our country which are given by sorcerers and snake-doctors. This often leads to bleeding, tetanus and other problems.
* Bleeding the stinged area with a sharp knife.
* Tie very tightly in multiple places.
* Burning of stinging place with carbolic acid.
* Coated with tree sap.
* Use of different methods for vomiting.
* Pouring something inside the ear or inside the eye.

Trying to resist:

* Most snake bites on the legs. Therefore, special care should be taken while walking in places where snakes may be present. Must be kept with shoes, lights etc.
* If the snake falls in front, it should stand slowly. Snakes do not bite without persuasion. (Not just snakes, no animal on earth does unnecessary harm)
* Unfortunately if the snake bites, you need someone to help you calm down. You should never run after being bitten by a snake. This can spread the poison quickly.
