Acne - a struggle for male and female




Acne is a condition affecting the skin's hair follicles and oil glands. Under your skin, your pores are connected to glands that make an oily substance known as sebum.

The difference between acne and pimples is that acne is a disease and pimples are one of its symptoms.

Who Suffers from ACNE :

Acne is most common in girls from the ages of 14 to 17, and in boys from the ages of 16 to 19. Most people have acne on and off for several years before their symptoms start to improve as they get older. Acne often disappears when a person is in their mid-20s. In some cases, acne can continue into adult life.

Why ACNE develop :

Acne is caused when tiny holes in the skin, known as hair follicles, become blocked. Sebaceous glands are tiny glands found near the surface of your skin.The glands are attached to hair follicles, which are small holes in your skin that an individual hair grows out of.

What factors aggravate ACNE :

The factors that directly contribute to acne are: 

-Excess oil production and Excessive production of sebum so that pores becoming clogged by “sticky” skin cells, bacteria accomodate and develop inflammation.

-Hormonal changes or hormonal imbalance and Endocrine disease.
 
-An unhealthy diet including lots of deep fried and junk food,
Refined Grains and Sugars,Dairy Products,Fast Food,Foods Rich in Omega-6 Fats,Chocolate,Whey Protein Powder,Foods You're Sensitive To.
 
-Release of cortisol hormones because of excessive stress.

-Certain drugs including corticosteroids, lithium, anticonvulsants, barbiturates,androgenic steroids, DHEA, and medications that contain bromides or iodides can cause acne.  



How a ACNE presents :

-Whiteheads (closed plugged pores)
-Blackheads (open plugged pores)
-Small red, tender bumps (papules)
-Pimples (pustules), which are papules have a white tip in the centre,
with pus at their tips.
-Large,hard, solid, painful lumps beneath the surface of the skin (nodules)

Medication need to get rid of ACNE :

-Retinoids and retinoid-like drugs: These come as creams, gels and lotions. 
-Antibiotics: These work by killing excess skin bacteria and reducing redness.
-Salicylic acid and azelaic acid. 
-Tea tree oil, benzoyl peroxide.
-Isotretinoin is a powerful drug that's used to treat the most severe cases of acne.



Preventive measures to get rid of ACNE :

-Avoid popping pimples.
-Wash twice daily, and again after sweating.
-Avoid touching the face.
-Use of correct Moisturize.
-Always wear sunscreen.
-Focus on gentle products.
-Avoid hot water.
-Use gentle cleansing devices.
-Stay hydrated.

Most often, acne will go away on its own at the end of puberty, but some people still struggle with acne in adulthood. Almost all acne can be successfully treated, however. It's a matter of finding the right treatment for you.
